5.7l timing

Okay so I was changing my distributor and put the new one
in headed at TDC and now my truck will not stay running
without me hitting the gas and is running very rough??

What yr and make? Make sure 1 is on TDC . Put a mark on the distributor body below one and remove distributor cap. Is the rotor pointing at that Mark. If it's a Chevy the oil pump moved and the distributor fell into the oil pump drive. More than likely your two teeth off and probably engine is retarded. Mechanical advance is making it run. Remove the distributor put engine on one replace distributor AND SEE IF IT ROTATES to engage oil pump. Orient the distributor so you Point rotor cap at one on the engine have a friend bump engine and it should fall into oil pump shaft.
