1996 k1500 4x4 switch to a 4x4 switch with auto button

I need to replace the switch in my truck and the original does not have the auto
setting. I can replace it with a similar one but there are others with the auto
button on them that are  bit cheaper. What i want to know is if i replace it with
one with a auto button would it work correctly?
