86 Silverado Spitting and Backfire

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 86 Silverado that when under a
load (acceleration) it spits and backfires a few
times and then dies. I have changed spark
plugs, done timing, checked air fuel mixture,
replaced the old carb, changed the hei
distributor and it is still backfiring. I believe it
has some electrical issue because when it
dies it blows a fuse under the hood and when
that is replaced it will start right up again. I
am very confused and was wondering if there
was anyway I could pin point the issue.
