rod knock???

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a knocking in my engine, my boyfriend was told
thicker oil would quiet it, so he did, now the knock is totally
gone but service engine light is still on, but then i take it to
work today the engine light is off and theres still no knock.
Although it had a little bit of a rough start, low rpms, but it
leveled out fast. Anyone have any ideas?

If the engine has a rod knock it will blow up anyway. All you did is buy a little bit of time.
