Whining sound while accelerating

It's an automatic transmission.

Is it rear wheel drive ? maybe a yoke bearing in the rear ?

It's AWD, I can't hear the noise while idling. most prevalent when accelerating after red light, and on the highway. When I hear the transmission shift the noise diminishes with each gear shift until reaching cruising speed, then I can't hear it again until accelerating again.

Wen I bought it, I was told it was AWD. How would I know if it's AWD or Front wheel drive?

it's AWD, and I hear the noise in reverse, as well.
