Clutch? Electrical? Something else? I'm stuck. Literally.

Asked by Seth May 28, 2016 at 08:07 PM about the 2004 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 230 Kompressor Sport Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So out of the blue, without any prior
symptoms, my car stops accelerating. I
thought it stalled but it didn't. Just stopped
going. It will move about 1-2mph when I
rev it high enough. And enough power to
get up a hill. Slooooowwwwly. So, before I
take out the clutch to replace it, i wanna
get some feedback. It seriously feels like
the traction control is engaged... Like I'm
on ice. There was no noise or smell. And
the clutch wasn't slipping. I can let off the
clutch without stalling. And interesting
enough, the dash display lights won't go
off so my battery keeps draining. This is
why i threw in electrical possibility
question. All this happened at once. The
car has 97k miles on it. Aaaaaand.... I'm a
piano player not a mechanic so if it's an
easy question please refrain from the
bashing. Lol

So, I hope you have enough gigs to be able to afford owning an expensive car- or as a concert pianist, you have enough symphony dates coming up this year- when you take your car to the MB dealer, you will have to cross their palms with silver Reichmarks- it is a mistake to own a MB when you are living on a budget- personally, I think you went wrong when you started playing piano- you could have chosen guitar- tsk tsk
