2.7 to 3.5 conversion

Asked by darryl Mar 04, 2020 at 11:30 PM about the 2005 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7L GL AWD

Question type: General

Motor went out in my 2005 Hyundai santa fe Gls. It came
with a 2.7l motor. How much of a pain would it be to put
the 3.5l in it instead. Because I feel like a 2.7 isn't enough
motor for that car in the first place.

First step. Sell your car. Second step. Buy a car you like. You will thank me later ;)

Already tried. In laws talked the wife into having me fix it instead since we are moving this weekend

Motor is blown. Getting a new motor figured I'd upgrade it to another o be with 100k less miles

You need to find another motor just like the one you have now. My advise is to scrap it. If you are moving will you be towing the car to your new home?

It's already in the shop I work at. Ready for a new motor. Just trying to find one now. Curious to see if putting the 3.5 might be a better option that the 2.7l overall.

You are a mechanic? You should know that you would need a complete 3.5 donor car to make it work.

I'm not a tech. I'm bottom of the barrel right now. I have a wreck santa fe with a 3.5l that I was wanting to use. So I didn't go in too much debt.
