2000 Honda Odyssey transmission replacement

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’ve got a 2001 Honda Odyssey transmission that I
am putting into my 2000 Odyssey and have come
into confusion. Everyone I consulted with said that
they were exactly the same in those years, and the
transmission fit into place and bolted right, but
there appear to be more sensors/plugs on this
newer transmission than I have wiring for. Anyone
ever had this happen?

The 2000 and 2001 Odyssey used the same 4 speed transmission, in 2002 they went with a 5 speed. Are you sure you have the correct transmission. Do the numbers on the pan match?

I had the VIN of the vehicle it was removed from checked and confirmed that it was a 2001 Odyssey. From what others have told me, a 2002 5speed wouldn’t bolt into place right as it’s dimensions were slightly different. Not sure if that’s true. I can’t find any other records of a modification to the trans system between 00 and 01. I am truly stumped. I have consulted with Honda dealership mechanics and even they’re baffled as to what is going on here. If they figure something out, I’ll update the thread.
