Why are fuel injectors leaking?

My educated guess is that the mechanic who replaced the knock sensor disconnected a wire that serves the injectors. Have the idiot retrace his work.

Fuel pressure too high, bad pressure regulator and or fuel pump. Very dirty or bad fuel causing etching of the injector nozzles and seats.

Why was the knock sensor replaced? Was the engine knocking? Lack of power? Check engine light on? Perhaps the knock sensor wasn't the problem to begin with. If the check engine light is on visit your local auto parts store and ask them to scan the computer for trouble codes. Most stores will do it for free. If you get a lean code it's most likely the intake manifold leaking. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks Guys, good info. The knock sensor was bad because a rat chewed through the wires. It drove ok for 24-36 hours, then I got low fuel pressure codes. I'll try these.

I see, the rest of the wiring should be checked then. Rodents love to chew on wiring and vacuum hoses. So if the knock sensor wires were chewed up I'd suspect other wires and possibly a vacuum hose or two are damaged as well. Jim

Yep I have seen some really bad rodent damage in my days. If you spot any then you need to get right up in there and really start looking for more. In today’s vehicles it only takes one little rodent bite to mess thing up.
