Why is my battery dying

Asked by Subbie2015 Sep 01, 2020 at 05:55 PM about the 2015 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I found this site & I want my rant too! Just had
my SUV  in for oil change service and battery
tested as it had died last week just turning
over ignition! Today I sit on the ferry turn over
ignition to take few pictures , go to turn back
OFF ignition and try to get out of my truck it’s
dead!! Can’t even leave door open to vacuum
my truck it dies. They tell me all the techie
stuff drains it! Ya right I’ve owned Cherokee
and never once had to replace anything! They
want me to buy another battery , so it’ll be 2
batteries since 2015! C’mon get real! I told
them I’ll be selling my mint truck and buying
something that doesn’t die and not put myself
in danger as the one post was noted for f this
too. Being stranded by myself with no use is
not reliable or sensible Subaru! Oh BC Ferries
is here now jumping my Subaru battery , & to
think it just left the shop Friday!!

Keep a Digital Volt Meter in your vehicle and read your under-the-hood battery voltage ... and document your data ... in a couple days you will have your answer. BTW, a TWELVE-VOLT-BATTERY should always read 12.6-volts OR HIGHER! Any time it reads 12.3 or lower, it is dangerously UNDER- CHARGED ...... Which means your alternator is not working “properly” ! Does NOT mean your alternator is damaged, means the ECM is interferring with the Alternator doing its job.
