Locked infotainment screen

Asked by Judy Feb 20, 2023 at 04:02 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Equinox 2LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The battery died, and now I have a lock
screen on the entertainment center. How do I
get that off of there?

The dealer will need to unlock the unit, it thinks it has been stolen. That is what happens when you loose main power. You lucky that nothing else happened due to the power loss. I’ve seen BCM loose programming when that happens. It a good idea to purchase a saver tool, it plugs into the OBD 2 port and keeps everything alive while main power is under repair. I have one that uses a motor cycle battery and it can go for days without any problems.

Look in the owners manual it M I G HT cover this. There should be a small card plastic w a 5-8 digit code touch screen enter code. You may be able to go to the dealer w your vehicle and registration and ID and may be able to give you the code from the vin# other wise it will need fetched from the bcm via Tech2 scanner. Looking at 200.00 dollars that route.
