Jimmy wont shift above second

Asked by Jon Nov 26, 2013 at 10:35 PM about the 2000 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 jimmy that wont shift higher then second gear. The only way to get it to do that is pull the shifter into 2. In drive or over drive it just reves up as if it was in neutral. When the computer was put on, it said it was the speed sensor. The sensor was changed and the codes were deleted but as soon as it was turned back on it continues to do it. What else could be causing this problem?

Roy man I do not mean to give you shit but the pics you are showing are the tranny mounts ! that will not make the tranny do what he is saying

Fluids are good and aren't burning. I'm not sure if it has the lock up converter. I'd have to check and see.

I have the same problem ,won't shift out of second . Any answers besides the speed sensor, already changed that.

Tps, map, mas, speed sensor, transmission control solenoid, and electronic shift control unit all play apart in the shifting. Check wiring for shorts. Check all fuses as some can stick you in limp mode.
