2014 Kia won't start

Asked by LindsayBowers Aug 07, 2018 at 11:09 AM about the 2014 Kia Optima SXL Turbo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2014 Kia Optima with 89,000 miles. I'm having trouble with getting it
to start with push button. I'll push the button and all the lights will come on
but nothing happens. It doesn't click or anything. The battery is brand new
and so is the battery in my remote. I also notice the brake pedal gets really
stiff the more I try to start it. I've read that if I put shifter in drive then back in
park, it'll start. I tried that this morning and it did work for me, started right up.
So my question is, what is the part that needs to be replaced?????

This started happening to my 2016 Kia Optima a couple days ago. It is so frustrating! I called in and i have an appoitment scheduled, the person I spoke to at the dealership thinks it is the inhibitor switch. Will update you on what it was once I get it fixed.

Make sure your engine block doesn't have a recall mine does.... Mine stalled while driving... Has a new battery good fuses... So I have to get the recall taken care of...

For me it turned out to be my battery, got it replaced and it’s been running great ever since.

i have a 2014 hybrid. It stalled and just shut off me yesterday with my 2 yr old daughter in it, The steering wheel locked and it will not start. All lights work, but all the lights on my dash are lit up, dealer stated they put a new hybrid battery in before I bought it, it isn't making any clicking noises or anything. When i pout it in drive nothing happens its like the motor isnt starting. i have done the park to drive an nothing works.
