Four years is pretty typical for battery life. Use a code saver when changing the battery.
It is a pretty common problem for Outback. Regular 3rd party batteries have at least 550cca but original Outback battery is 380cca. Time to replace it and do your homework before buying it again.
Sadly they put in too small [cheap] battery in outbacks. my 2014 is starting to turn slow - I know it is the weak battery and will replace it with a group 24 [yes it will fit fine] and will last a "bit" longer as it is stronger, bigger and better than the factory battery. How do I know this? I can see it. . . also our 1990 Loyal had the same problem and a group 24 fixed it fine our 2010 forester got a group 24 last year and our 2011 outback got a group 24 last fall and the no start to slow start problem was fixed. I bought good batteries with a 40 month warranty [24 month replacement] so far these have lasted me 6 to 7 years before showing signs of age and needing replaced. *in short - most new cars I look at have a small cheap battery as a stock install. so they last 3 to 4 years in "good weather" [warm climate] before failing.
