Is my transmission gone?

Asked by Snowman26 Nov 30, 2014 at 11:25 AM about the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 2006 Ford
Crown Victoria Police
Interceptor, with 147k
miles, "with no problems
with the transmission or
any thing". Now I have
167k miles on my vehicle,
just casual driving. So I left
my parents home and got
on the interstate from the
off ramp, my car felt a
little strange when I sped
up to get in the right lane.
It wasn't strange enough
to pull over and check any
thing out.  So I proceed
down the interstate state,
at 75 mph for 25 miles,
another vehicle slowed in
front of me, so I pressed
the brakes slightly and
then sped back up. When I
pressed the gas my rpm
jumped really high, my
gears wouldn't change.
Pulled over check
transmission fluid,
everything was good, tried
to take off again, and only
my first, and second gears
would change, no second
or third gear.

I'd say it's the accumulator piston inside the transmission. It could also be blockage inside the valve body. Picture if valve body out of a '93 with the older model AOD-E trans. Inside of the valve body are holes and passages, springs, piston, and check balls that the ATF goes through while directing your transmission to shift. The accumulator piston in near the valve body

I think you should go to a professional about your problem, I think it's time to check the gears out.
