No power

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok so I have an 86' f250. I made the stupid mistake
and putting the battery charger on backwards
(cable colors were switched) and leaving it on 20
amps over night. So obviously it didn't charge so i
put a different battery in that was charged before i
realized my mistake and started to hook it up when
i noticed i was an idiot. But that was after the
smoke got let out of the starter solenoid. So i
replaced the solenoid. But no lights or anything
comes on when i turn the key. If i jump the
solenoid the engine turns over but doesn't start.
No fuses are blown in the internal fuse box. Also
note that not even accessories like headlights and
things that dont require the key to be turned are
working. There is no power to anything except the
solenoid and the starter. Where should i look next?

The solenoid is OK polarity means nothing to it. Look at the solenoid wiring again I think you may have missed a wire going to the solenoid battery stud Note the small wires on the solenoid battery stud are fuse links and one is probably fried pull and tug on the wires if one pulls apart it's blown. I hope this helps, take care.
