yes, but you did not tend to the connection to the chassis-ground~ as it stands now, you've got a 'semi-conductor' connection there~ wirebrush please~

You know "brown-outs" happen because the ground is of varying voltages and varying amperages...really tough for a computer to say Yes or No when critical issues are brought forth....though sensors...02 sensor, Manifold Pressure sensor...block temperature sensor~ https://www.google.com/search? biw=1309&bih=670&tbm=shop&sclient=psy- ab&q=1987+Ford+Thunderbird+block+coolant+temperature+sensor&oq= 1987+Ford+Thunderbird+block+coolant+temperature+sensor&gs_l=serp. 12...25757.27242.2.30184.8.8.0.0.0.0.131.830.3j5.8.0.crnk_timecombine d...0...1.1.32.psy-ab..8.0.0.1PkKSzbpa0U&pbx=1

not that you need a temperature sensor...but is a critical item for the computer to make important decisions on....and if it has a "semi-conductor" NOT solid steady ground to the battery might make a mistake....throw a Check Engine Light out there....any number of troubles~

I guess,I forgot to mention,I cleaned all grounds,(wire-brushed),checked for open circuits,none found,no-eng. Lite on.not over-heating,just not keeping a charge.

Check for fusible links. Also there was a recall for the alternator wiring harness. Mine caught fire because of this...we were also chasing a dead batt/alt problem during this time
