Incorrect diagnosis?

Asked by DJRANDM87 Jun 30, 2018 at 04:06 PM about the 1987 Toyota Pickup 2 Dr SR5 4WD Extended Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Also,
The main reason why I went to my mechanic in the
first place was because there was a whistling
screech coming from under the hood. He
diagnosed it as burnt pistons and rings. After the
rebuilt, when I picked up my truck from the shop, I
drove away and the noise began again. I went back
and told him what's up. It ended up being the A/C
compressor. A quick $8 fix. So I feel like I got
ripped off Cause with parts and labor, I spent
$2250 for the INCOMPLETE JOB and the timing is
still significantly off.

Supposedly... but I feel like he should of fixed my timing. That is part of the engine. For $750 I really think he should have fixed it. Plus he diagnosed my truck wrong. It was the A/C compressor that was causing the problem.
