New engine or new car

Asked by Elliebritt Jun 01, 2017 at 05:49 AM about the 2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium

Question type: Car Customization

My 2012 outback needs a new engine.
222,000 miles on it.  Subaru dealership
said blown engine is due to leaves and
dirt between the 2 radiators.  I take it in
for regular maintenance.  I don't believe
this overlook is my fault.  Where to go
from here?

A good used engine might be best thing for your car unless you want to keep the car for a long time in which case do as Tom suggests.

I agree with Tom.. especially if the interior and exterior of the car is in excellent condition.... IF, the interior and seats were worn and needed replacing I would probably say goodbye.... BUT, sounds like you have maintained this car well.... And it's probably worth the money to get a replacement engine.... I would look for a remanufactured engine though.... I don't like used engines....you don't have any idea how they were maintained or driven..... could have been abused..
