what would cause driver side door not to unlock with automatic key,

drivers side door will not unlock/lock  automatically with key. the other doors will lock and unlock automatically, the autolock switch inside will lock and unlock it

So you can here the door lock, but it doesn't? Then you have a linkageand or latch/lock problem. You'll need to remove the inner door panel to find your issue.
