2012 Jeep Wrangler temperature

Are you pulling a heavy load? Maybe a camper or a trailer? If so the vehicle may be overloaded and the cooling system is working beyond it's capacity. It is also helpful to reduce your speed when climbing steep grades. It's also not uncommon for the temperature gauge to climb past the 220°F mark in the summertime when pulling a load up a steep grade. If you see the gauge approaching the 240°F mark under these conditions you have something going on. Hope that helps! Jim

Jim. I wasn’t pulling any load. I do have a honey comb grill and a winch in the front bumper. U think because I came from Delaware and to a lot hotter environment it’s normal? Could I throw in a racing thermostat that opens at 185 instead of the 205?

The grille and winch could definitely be a factor. With a reduced airflow through the grille and, of course, through the radiator the engine will heat up in a hotter environment. Especially under the load of going up hills. Normal thermostat temperature is 195°F for your Jeep. Hope that helps! Jim
