Start by making sure the coolant is topped up, is it going down as well? If cooling system pressure is low it will cause overheating, change the radiator cap. Check radiator for bent and or clogged (with dirt or bugs) fins. If your brakes are dragging at all it will cause the motor to work harder which means it's going to run hotter. The water pump could be in its way out also. The fan clutch could be worn out. It's the radiator fan shroud in place? It must be there for effective cooling

Water/coolent is topped ..cap tight..water pumped was replaced a couple years ago. Truck temp goes from good to hot in five min. I was stuck on the interstate in bumper to bumper. Then when it started moving the temp just went higher! So driving cause it to be worse. Had to stop and let it cool several times. Always carry two gallon of water with me just for this emergency. How hard is it to change a thermostat in this truck for a grandma?? I’ve done a starter in my bronco but that was so high I could get under it easy.
