2006 dodge durango slt don't want to pull

Asked by MsG8114 Oct 02, 2017 at 12:35 PM about the 2006 Dodge Durango SLT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 06 Dodge Durango slt and it will shut off while
driving with no warning, but it will crank right back up. Also,
now when I put the key in the ignition it will not turn, I will
have to tap it with a hammer in order for it to turn. The
other problem I'm having is that it's like the transmission is
slipping when I pull off and if I have to come to a stop sign
or traffic light and start to pull off the slipping starts and it
doesn't want to pull. It smells like burnt transmission fluid
from the back of the truck. I have had the dodge dealership
to put a brand new transfer case in because it went out on
me. The check engine light popped on Saturday on my way
back home and it was hardly pulling off from the traffic
light. I have had the transmission fluid changed and the oil
changed. Is anyone else having any of these issues? Oh,
yeah and the radio will shut off and will come back on
maybe 2 days later.

I'd get the ignition switch to operate normally , if you've been hitting it something might be shorting out , make sure trans. fluid is at proper level , scan those codes
