Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The DIS screen does not stay illuminated. After the I hit the enter button, the initial screen goes away and the screen shows up clear and bright. But after a varying period of time it will fade out and usually goes black. Other times, after I push the enter button it just comes up black right off. At night it is clear and easily seen. If I shift into reverse, no matter whether the screen is clear or black, it shows the rear image with no problems. Not particularly wanting to replace the screen with a used one without knowing that's what it needs and the dealer service charges are sky high. I don't know of anyone else that can diagnose this though. Does anyone have any ideas?

My screen would show up clear and bright at night. Someone suggested that I needed to go into the setup screen and reset the screen brightness. I had to go in at night since that was the only time I could see the screen to maneuver around to the adjust the settings. Sure enough, the screen was turned down almost completely to the darkest setting. I adjusted it midway and it was viewable again the next morning when I got in the car. So thanks to another Genesis owner, I saved the $1200 the dealer wanted to replace the unit. (When I bought the car, the screen was unviewable until this was done.)
