what is the proper way to replace car battery?

Remove the brace that holds the battery in place. Disconnect the positive cable, then the negative cable and carefully remove the battery. Then place the new battery in and connect the negative cable and then the positive. Once the cables are connected, replace the brace to fasten the battery to the car and you are all set.
