The plastic cover to the ashtray has come off and fallen back underneath the ashtray, is there some way to get to it?

It seems the entire assembly cannot be removed without some drastic measure?  Help.

I removed mine with a bit of force. You can remove all surrounding parts of the console by simply prying the flashed button out and removing the adjacent screws; followed by the console storage box in the same fashion after the arm rest is removed, again simple prying and screws. The Bentley manual has a decent description.
