why is my 06 dts shifting hard?

my 06 caddilac dts is shifting hard and wont go into first 3rd on shifter is drive
on column. i have checked transmission fluid and its not low. what could be
causing this? has the northstar 4.6 v8 automatic transmission.

You may want to take it to a good tranny shop . There are electronics that may be faulty and relatively easy to replace
Hard shifting can be shift solenoids, sticky valve body or even a bad transmission. The other problem sounds like a gear selector switch or even shift linkage problems. Find a good independent shop to have it live data scanned and see if any of the transmission sensors are out of specs or if any engine sensors are also bad and the linkage. If those check good the head to a transmission shop, they can do stand alone testing and then tell you if the transmission or electronics have any problems.
If the head gaskets on this vehicle have not been replaced yet it's a ticking time bomb. Trade it in. Jim
