Low Beams and high beams don't come on together?

Asked by Chmied Aug 21, 2018 at 10:19 PM about the 2010 Dodge RAM 1500 ST 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500 ST 4x4. I have seen several repair videos
regarding this truck, and in all of them when people turned on their brights,
the low beams stayed on. When i turn on the high beams, the low beams
turn off, It's kind of annoying seeing as how the whole point of High beams is
to add light, not just modify it.

The question is, is this proper behavior for my truck? If not any help would be
appreciated.

2012 is the proper year of my vehicle, for some reason it wouldn't allow me to enter that in the subject line.

I'm having the same problem on my girl friends truck. I cleaned the headlights switch but still nothing. Did you figure it out?

Hey regarding the problem where you turn your high beams on and the headlight shuts off entirely, did you ever find any solution to that? My 2012 2500 Ram is doing that. I have checked the relay and the wires that go into the relay. I changed the bulb and it works then it starts doing again. I am having a hard time finding an accurate wiring diagram to see what wire bundle is for what. No fuses are blown. I saw one video where it says to change out the IPN computer but my truck doesnt have one in the same spot. Super frustrating.
