Why is traction light on and red BRAKE indicator blinking?

Asked by Richard Nov 04, 2020 at 07:50 PM about the 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All of a sudden, the check engine, traction control, and brake lights came on
today on my 2010 Subaru Outback, which I just purchased on Sunday.
Luckily I have a warranty and they should be able to service the car.

The code reads P0026 and it seems to be an issue with the oil control valve.
My question is, why did the traction control and brake lights come on?

1 Answer

That code indicates a problem with the variable cam timing. Subaru makes a lot of lights light up to get your attention when there is a code.
