Wont shift in "S" mode

Asked by Chipco Aug 22, 2023 at 01:28 AM about the 2008 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab 5.7L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Toyota service worked on my truck for a starting roblem after I cleaned the

console.  one month later, truck back.  The truck wouldnt shift in the "S" shift

mode.  Took it back for repai, wait another month.  They told me they couldn't

fix it but if I purchased a new shifter they would put it in.  Well it drives in "D"

shift mode so I just drove it for a while.  Now, after 6 months I took off the

console to clean again and noticed that the electrical connector which powers

the console cig lighter and light was un plugged.  Neither have worked since I

took it in.  Does anyone know what or how that 4 or 5 wire connector

connects.  I speculate that it had something to do with the shifter mode

shifting malfunction.

Take it to someone you can trust , A dealership is usually at the bottom of my list

That old of a vehicle dealerships just don’t want to be bothered, techs today don’t want to do anything that might involve thinking, so if the computer doesn’t show anything then that’s where it ends, you get stuck with s ridiculous diagnostic fee and nothing fixed. Independent shops are your best bet but you have to research cause some of them are getting just like the dealerships.
