Manufacture specs call for 87 octane in your jeep. While it won't hurt to use 91 or 93 you really won't see any performance gain from it. Save yourself some dough and stick with 87. I would, however, recommend that you avoid running 15% ethanol gas all the time, if you are in a State that mandates high ethanol content then try to run a tank of 91 octane every third fuel up in the winter months to avoid any moisture content that ethanol can often cause in fuel systems.

Running the standard E10 blend of gasoline found at most pumps across the country wont do anything to your Jeep and is perfectly fine to run every single time. While ethanol is hygroscopic in nature and its properties enable it to absorb more water than pure gasoline, the standard 10% content is not great enough for this to be an issue, or cause corrosion. You would have to leave your car parked for months on end for there to be a chance of an issue. Running a tank of 91 octane will every third fill up will do nothing for you (except take an extra few bucks out of your wallet) since premium grade fuels, (90,91,or 93 depending on your state) will have the same ethanol content as the 87 octane at the same pump. The "every third tank" statement is not based on any formal laboratory testing and is more akin to your grandmother saying you should have some Campbells chicken soup when you have a cold... not really a solution. The M+S/2 (USA octane rating) has nothing to do with the ethanol content % of the different fuel grades, at a given pump....unless a station is legally allowed, and specifically chooses to order different octanes with different blends, which would be cost prohibitive for them, and thus likely to never happen. Long story short - your Jeep uses a very under-stressed 4.7L naturally aspirated V8 that will see zero benefit from using any gasoline higher than 87 octane, and will not be harmed by E10 blends. The only gasoline purchase decision worth making is consistently running top tier 87 octane fuel from the likes of Shell, Mobil/ Exxon, or BP. Quality detergents placed in "top tier" fuels (regardless of octane) will help keep fuel injectors and exhaust valves cleaner over time. Oh...and one of the most effective detergents also just so happens to be Ethanol!

Thank you for this my mother told me in an older Jeep and told me she’s only been using premium gas so that’s what I started to use but then I thought about it and wanted to research it further so I appreciate you giving your advice and expertise.
