can you change the 2nd row bench seating in the 2008 navigator to captains chairs with a console

Asked by msanger Jul 04, 2014 at 10:52 PM about the 2008 Lincoln Navigator L RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I recently purchased all new seats for my navigator l and my current set up is the 2nd row bench seating.  The new set up is two chairs with the center console.  We are having issues installing the console.  Does the carpet line up, did we not get the brackets to install the center console?  I don't want to replace the carpet.  I will just have to sell all of my new seats that I just bought if it does not line up correctly, help.

yes, you need help, so I will take the time to 'splain this to you, Loocie- Did you think this through before you bought the seats? No, I don't think so- you would have first realized that people have to sit in those seats and you will need restraint systems that meet crash-test regulations- if you don't mount the seat belts correctly, you are endangering people's lives- and then, the whole console/carpet/ poker table thing- just go back to the stock setup and make your truck a real vehicle again- it is not like rearranging your living room-

There are special brackets needed to mount the console. They do not use the same holes that the seat used for mounting to the floor.

The simple answer is no. There is the whole seatbelt thing and if you just remove the console it will look bad, unless you want to replace the carpet and so on. I asked my mechanic, know as the Lincoln man, that's worked primarily on Lincoln's for 25 years and he said, NO! I'm looking to buy a Navigator for livery service right now and had the same question.
