2008 Buick Lacrosse won't start.

Asked by John Dec 29, 2017 at 10:15 AM about the 2008 Buick LaCrosse CX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an intermittent problem with my 2008 Buick Lacrosse. When the problem exists the car will not start. There is a clicking sound as if the battery is dead however, the information panel is showing 14 plus volts. What is really throwing me is the horn will blow and the wipers come on. The trunk also pops open and the clock goes to 12:00 where do I look to fix this issue?

Battery voltage needs to be read under load, even a battery with a dead cell can read 12-14 volts. Give the battery a proper load check and check terminal connections as well, look for corroded or frayed ends. Use a meter and check it across the terminals while cranking it. Under-voltage conditions can cause spurious effects on a car computer systems.

You have a classic case of a bad battery connection

My car did the same thing and it ended up not being the battery. I would check the cables and clean it. After that I would get it checked at a place like autozone. If that doesn’t work it could be the starter or solenoid and that ended up being the issue on my car.
