New air cleaner - what about the air intake?

Asked by Kasper Feb 10, 2018 at 07:59 PM about the 1973 Ford Mustang Convertible RWD

Question type: Car Customization

I've just installed a new K&N Custom Air Cleaner in my classic 1973 Mustang.
However, the old air cleaner was directly connected to the large air intake
tubes from the front. I've removed the tubes now because they new air cleaner
is "open" (the filter is exposed on the sides of it) so I wonder if I need to do
something about the air intake?

i don't think so , as long as the engine isn't drawing open/direct air , I've turned the top cover over on some old beatupchevy air cleaners to expose the entire thing without a problem as long as it wasn't winter
