Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 08' escapes reverse first went with no warning.
I drove it forward a few feet then shut it off. then
tried to move it the next day and it wouldn't even
move. I could shift it into gears but no forward or
reverse. is this a fuse or a relay problem or is it the
transmission even though there was no grinding or
cracking from the transmission. yes i did also
check the fluid level of the tranny

Would scan for any pending codes. My first thought is the torque converter. There is a shaft that drives the pump for hydraulic pressure. So if the teeth are worn the pump will not allow your clutches to engage. You can verify if the pump is working or not by accessing the high pressure port, attaching a gauge and see if there is fluid pressure. If you don't want to go through all that then see what the transmission fluid level is with the car off and then start it up and check it again. The oil level on the dipstick should drop. This will not give a truly accurate diagnosis as the first suggestion. Good Luck!
