You do realize that this is probably an OBDI car and an OBDII diagnostic tool will not work with it. OBDI was much less sophisticated and could be "read" with a paper clip by shorting pins in the connector. It would tell you what system was failing by a series of flashes on the dash that you will need to interpret..
