Does anyone have insight about a "right low beam failure" alert?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a "right headlight failure" alert. However, the headlight still works... Most of the
time. Sometimes it is very dim and other times it works just fine. The high beams always
work. When I start the car the right beam flashes bright then dims. Very odd! There are
no bad fuses, no loose or frayed wires. Amps are all good except for on one yellow wire
that goes down to 1 when the lights are on. I don't see a way to change the yellow wire
alone. I am thinking I need a new Underhood Electrical Centre (underhood fuse relay
box). Anyone have any ideas? Can I change the yellow wire alone?

Is it the Xenon or Halogen bulb thats affected? ( If you have Bi- Xenon lights). If its the Xenon light it might be a problem with the unit itself, ( short circut or fried / bad connection ) Then you'll have to replace the headlight. U can check the power wiring that goes to the lamp from the "powerbox" ( with fuses) make sure its not melted or have a open circut. If its the halogen bulb, it might be the connector to the bulb thats overheated, this will have to be changed out in that case

Thanks for you're response. They are halogen. To update- I changed out the wiring harness this week and that didn't help. I'll take a closer look at the bulb connection. I'm so lost here because of the fluctuation in amps. Car not started but in on position light gets full amperage and works fine. Car started and wire amps go down and light dims. Weird. Thanks again! I'll reply after dealing with that connector.

It might be worth while to check the relays also ;)

Bought mine on eBay for $35. My 2006 9-3 Turbo Sedan took part # 12761558. I chose a box from the same year/model etc... as my Saab. I found them new (I don't remember sites now) from $250-$550. And on eBay from $35-$200.
