03 Saab 9-3 2.0t swap

Asked by Freshy1292 Oct 11, 2016 at 09:00 PM about the 2003 Saab 9-3 Linear

Question type: General

Hi I just bought a Saab 9-3 and it has 190000 miles
on it I was wondering if it would be smarter to pull
the engine and rebuild it or buy a used engine with
less miles and install that
Any ideas or opinions

Does it run? I find high mile Saabs have more need for new transmissions than engines. Rebuild or used engine, depends on the price of the used engine. Much simplier to install a used engine of course

Yeah it runs like it is new but it also has 190000 miles on it so I'm looking for options for it when it eventually does die cause the body and interior are 10/10 absolutely no rust or accidents on it When I drive it the transmission shifts perfect

Find a cheap used engine and rebuild it on a rack before you put it in the car. Its a little more work and another $700 or so, but you will have a bullet proof motor. I would replace the Mass airflow Sensor as well.
