Replaced 2 cv axles, and front drive shaft in my 06 mountaineer. Now AWD won't engage, and always can't lock in in 4x4 with the setup button. Any ideas?

EDIT** Replaced both front CV Axles, and front drive shaft in 06 Mountaineer. Now AWD won't engage. Also can not lock it in 4x4 using the setup/info buttons. Any ideas?

Bob is on the right track. Perhaps something was damaged or disconnected during the axle replacement.

Look up a diagram of the vacuum system for the front axle and then take a look.

When we removed the passenger side axle, a bearing or gear came out with it. we were able to lightly tap it off and slide it back in. But could that be part of the problem?
