Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was driving my Chevy 1500 then all of a sudden I
seen the speedometer dropped to zero and at that
point my truck automatically went back in the first
year and they stayed stuck in first gear and it is still
running & drives but the speedometer does not
move and when driving it stays stuck in first gear

the speedo cable is on the tranny , see if it's broken or something , check the tranny fluid but I think you'll need to replace that tranny .

Look Behind the glove compartment in your truck and you'll see a white box about 3 1/2" x 3 1/2 " in size. This is the module that controls the speedometer and also sends the signal to the trans to shift from gear to gear. Clean the contacts and try, if cleaning doesn't work then it will have to be replaced
