Most cars do this. After the engine is turned off the lights will stay on as doors open and close to allow the passengers to see. Afterwards the lights should automatically dim off or turn off. An alternative to this (if you have a clicker to lock and unlock your car), after exiting, the lights will stay on unless you lock the vehicle, which will then turn the interior lights off automatically. This is the way it is in my Scion, and I just replaced the bulbs with LEDs. Hope this helps.
