Electrical problems

When I turn key switch on gauges act weird.the
fuel gauge rolls around,the alternator gauge shows
below 9 volts, temp gauge shows about180 and
when I turn light switch on gauges go crazy.truck
won't start

I have checked the batteries both show 12 volts and I also have jumper cables hooked up to another truck

check and see if the battery ground is well attached to the block and make sure the cable(to the neg post ) is in good shape with no build up.

Thanks Trace it was the ground wire on the rear right of block.It was one of the studs that held intake manifold that had three wires going to it I cleaned the stud cut wires and put a new end on them and it started right up.THANKS ALOT.
