How many engine mounts does my car have and where are they?

When I looked at available parts this item comes singly or in sets of 2,4,6,or 8.
Should I be able to see these mounts under the hood?

3 mounts is correct but I believe that one is called an engine mount and the other two are called front and rear transmission mounts because of their respective location.
