Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Getting stranded and needing jumpstart.
Assumed battery..had the alternator
checked as well. Got a new battery but
light still comes on..just wondering if
something is draining it. Haven't had it
checked yet..it's only been 2 days since I
got the battery.

Generally this is alternator related. Have you had the wires checked from battery to alternator? Voltage drop test all wires? Ground wires all clean and low resistant wires? No corrosion on connections including rust? I have also seen where this can be a bad ECM. What is the alternator putting out when running? I am assuming battery light is on constantly while driving. If battery is draining with car off then you have a parasitic drain condition.

It was making a high pitch whining when you accelerated..even in park. I was told it was a bearing on the alt. My husband took it off and auto zone tested it 4 times and said it was fine so he put it back on. The battery issue started after that? Also the light has come on only once each day for 2 days since I replaced the battery..goes off after a couple of minutes.

I had a new battery put in after battery light appeared intermittently. Come to find out it needed a new alternator. Starts fine but now my engine light is on. I think I'm going to change the wiring harness.
