Starting problems with my Kia

Asked by Mary_yraM Feb 20, 2019 at 01:29 PM about the 2006 Kia Sportage LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

06 kia sportage. This has happened to my car
several times but most of the time I can wait a few
mins and then it will start. But it's been out for a
week now. When you turn the key the lights and
radio come on but it clicks in the fuse box under
the hood when you try to crank it... I dont have
enough money to take it to a dealer and I need to
fixed asap!

My 2018 Kia Sportage has been having issues starting. It will click and the lights will light up but it won’t turn over. If I justo it off it starts up and will run fine for another several starting but then fail to start again. It has 63000 on it. I’m having a new battery installed right now but I’m wondering if it could be something more than a bad battery.

I got a 17 sportage, pckg etc. But yes, same issue, 67k on mine. If it has been started REAL recently, NP at all. But if it sets, sometimes even over night (especially when its cold) it does the full pwr, lights, bells&whistles on point_as it should its a new Fn car! But had this click up front, like you can tell something sticking, not letting something "relay" its job. Yes, regardless, its a new well running ride, reliable, give it several attempts, turn off all lights radio, ac, etc. Let the dash pic clear the SYSTEM CHECK, 80% time it will fire up. I already replaced battery. Just learned a recall issue on this... stay tuned.

So much of this starting probably on the net , mine is 2016 model . You think they would have pinpointed to problem by now . There are recalls for 2017 model aircon ,no recall for this problem. Next car is Toyota !

I had the same problem with my 2020 Sportage with 40,000 miles on it. Replaced the battery and a month later went out and it was totally dead. Upon further inspection it was the starter.
