My power steering and power brakes both went at the same time. Fluids are good, belts are good no problems, just stop working at the same time? What do they have in common?

NO problems and then both stop at once, coincidence??? seems unlikely.,

Himmmm. Dose the power steering pump operate the power brakes? On diesels they do, that's why I asked. Also on some bid block gas jobs.

Possibly, sems odd they would both go at the same time, pump seems to be fine, plenty of fluid no noise.....

Look on the master cylinder and see if you can see a vacuum canister attached to it. If not then the P.S. and P.B. are related.

I had a similar problem with my 01 GMC Sierra 2500. When I cranked it up the power steering stopped working. The accelerator stopped working and the brakes barely worked. It was slightly lower on power steering fluid but it was in operational levels. Also the truck would not move of its own accord while in drive or reverse. Electrical or computer failure? ( It was parked on a hill with parking brake engaged)

hey folks, I have a 2002 gmc sierra 2500hd (diesel). Had the same issue with losing brakes and powersteering at the same time. To remedy, I changed the hydroboost, brake master cylinder and power steering pump. None of it worked. Took the truck back to the shop, they said power steering was not moving the fluids around and they suggested getting another p/s pump. Got another rebuild one from shop. Once installed that worked for about 10 blocks and failed. Took it back and they said that they called the dealer and suggested getting a brand new p/s pump (third!). They replaced it and it worked! So long story short, it is usually the p/s problem. Do not get anything AC Delco (although a GM), their rebuilds are junk. Get a brand new p/s and the problem will be solved. Trust me, I spent over 2k trying to remedy the problem. Cheers
