Overheating

Asked by Tomdog03 Apr 05, 2017 at 12:43 PM about the 2001 Jaguar S-TYPE 4.0L V8 RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed some coolant under my 2001 jaguar s
type took it to the shop and they replaced the water
pump, thermostat, thermostat housing and belt.
Now when druve it after it had been sitting for a
while (overnight) when the engine is cool it will
overheat within a couple of blocks but if you let it
idle and warm up to normal temp (guage in the
middle) it does fine. They are totally baffled and
said they have never seen anything like it before.
Does anyone know what is causing this because I
can't just sit for 15 min or so every time I want to
drive it.

bleed or burp the car of all the air and see what happens....

They did that at the shop. They even put a second new water pump and thermostat in thinking they might have gotten bad parts.
