what is the first thing i should do to find out to find out why when i hooked up the jumper cabels got a jump for my 97 chevy lumina 3.1 it started just fine but when i turned on my ac all power to my vehical shut down now there is no power at all.

perhaps someone must have mistakenly touched them in reverse...I'd begin with the FUSEABLE link.....a piece of wire off the negative terminal or a rectangular FUSE looking thing in your fusebox...near the MEGA-FUSE that you may look at to stop the brain and alternator diodes from gettin' toasted~
