Dodge caliber

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Dodge Caliber. I just replaced my
front tires and got a wheel alignment. When I’m
driving on dry roads it’s fine but the slightest
wetness on the road cause my car to sway kinda
bad. I kinda feel like I’m just floating on the road,
feels super unsafe. Did something go wrong with
the wheel alignment or is this something else?

Check the pressure of the tires to match what is on the sticker inside the door jam. They might be too high. What are the conditions of the rear tires? Contrary to popular belief, the rear tires on a FWD vehicle should have the deeper tread depth for handling. Try swapping the tires front to rear and see if you issue goes away. Also mismatched tires can also cause this issue. Do the front tires match the rear? Same size, brand and make? Talk to the garage that sold you the tires and performed the alignment. See if they agree or can help you further. Maybe you have some worn suspension components?

Jesse, So my car had some really bad rust underneath and that caused my alignment to never be 100%. I unfortunately just got rid of the car I was buying new back tires every 3 months because of it. And with rust there’s nothing they can really do. But if you don’t have any rust what Tdolby said above was helpful for the moment with my car but because of rust it just went right back.
