my ac compressor  is siezed the car won't start...now can I bypass the compressor and use a different size belt ? or does the unit need to be replaced....

You can't use a smaller belt due to the routing the tensioner is in the way. Your best bet is to get a new Compressor. It will be easier to sell it with working A/C.

It looks like you may be able to. Do you have the 4 or 6 cylinder engine. Found a pic for the I4 below. The 6 looks like it is possible. Finding a belt of the right lenght is the tricky part with the parts punks refering to their parts computers. I secured my tensioner around it's normal position with the original components then use a string to follow the new route and give me the correct length. Ensure all equipment rotates the correct way.
